I have worked with many students who are preparing for college music programs. These lessons are aimed at building the skill set necessary to be successful in any music school. Former and current students have attended such prestigious schools as Berklee College of Music, U Mass, University of Miami, North Texas State, Indiana U, Cal Tech, New School, New England Conservatory and several others. Music theory, history, ear training, orchestration, and reading skills are covered in every lesson in an easy to absorb format.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds. Some are already playing professionally and wish to work on new styles and techniques or deepen their understanding of music theory and notation. Some are just starting out and want to develop good habits on their instruments. Others are working toward entering a music program, such as Berklee or UMass Lowell. Finally, some are amateur musicians working toward increasing their repertoire and skill level in church or community groups. Lessons are tailored to each student's musical goals.
My students are generally those who are just starting off, or have been playing for a short while. I try to get the beginning student basic knowledge or the instrument and most importantly, excited about playing the guitar. I also teach a number of intermediate players who are looking for a solid foundation in reading, theory and improvisation as a bridge to study with more advanced teachers.
